About Me
I’m Tom, I live in a small and beautiful Bedfordshire village quite near to Olney with my partner.
A qualified and HCPC registered paramedic, I worked in the ambulance service as an emergency medical technician from 2005 onwards following a career change. In early 2012 I graduated my paramedic degree course with merit from Oxford Brookes University and continued working as a paramedic serving the Milton Keynes area.
Since 2018 I have worked in primary care (GP surgery) in Milton Keynes and as such I have eight years of experience in a wide variety of medical conditions, including ear infections and conditions. Of course, I am fully trained and experienced in ear examination (otoscopy) using proper medical grade equipment.
In 2025 I took a CPD accredited multi-day course in ear wax removal, training in both micro suction and irrigation techniques. Unlike some short half day courses which teach the very bare bones of micro suction only, this was a comprehensive course teaching both of the current methods (remember, ear ‘syringing’ is an old fashioned method and is not currently practiced).
Already proficient in patient assessment, care and aftercare, ear anatomy and physiology, and common ear conditions, my training robustly reinforced my knowledge base.
I wanted to provide a business to provide a convenient home visiting service to fill the gap in treatments which had become unavailable on the NHS. This is why I started Clarion Ear Care.

Pricing structure :
- – Ear examination only (I will always examine both ears). If no wax is found, I will only charge an examination fee and signpost you towards the appropriate next steps : £30
- – Removal of wax if only found in one ear : £50.
- Removal of wax in both ears if found : £75.
If ear wax is found and removed, whether later on or at the same appointment, the initial consultation fee is included as part of the subsequent ear wax removal fee.
